Summer Camp 2015-DAY I

We have finished English Summer Camp and it`s time to show what we did. “CULTURE EXCHANGE” was a motto of the camp. Our camp guests were : Adela Segura-a SERVAS coordinarter for Central America, from Guatemala, Ina Savickiene-a psychologist from Lithuania Camilo Montes-a young Guatemalan man and a student of Academy of fine arts in France.     Every day of the camp was packed with attractions and activities . Summer is time for relaxing so we went on outing every day. DAY I As usual we began summer adventure with greeting and introducing to one another. This was an opportunity to learn new adjectives to describe our traits. We learnt : where the country is located, what`s its capital, about symbols on the flag, we saw pictures of the national bird-quetzal national floral symbol -Monja blanca and ceiba- sacred Mayan tree. We saw colonial architecture, beauty of Guatemalan nature with volcanoes and pristine lakes. Adela showed us videos of antiqua Guatemala and shared her stories of volcanoes climbing.     We leart about CINTA-a mayan strap hat, marimba-a national instrument and   Students jotted down pieces of information.   After brunch Ina presented Lithuania country and Lithuanian culture. Students marked Lithuania on the outline of the world. We could compare Lithuanian symbols with Guatemalan ones; a stork-national bird, an oak-a national tree. We saw videos of Vilnius and could see the capital`s architecture. We heard an interesting talk about how the size and borders of Lithuania were changing during historical events. We enjoyed repeating beautiful, amazing Lithuanian names such as : Dovydas, Aźuolas, Giedrius,Gintaras, Audra, Austeja, Daiva,Egle . We learnt about their symbolism and meanings. Ina told us about the beauty of Vilnius university, its architecture, yards, interior and atmosphere. We saw an amazing, modern library surrounded by the nature-a perfect place for the team work. We learnt about Lithuanian nature, beautiful lakes and sandy beaches. Students listening to Adela`s and Ina`s presentations.     During outing to the forest near our town we painted the Guatemalan and Lithuanian symbols on the huge outline of the world map.              ...
